Gout is a terribly painful affliction so when we can come across a natural remedy that might just give some relief, you can bet your boots that we are going to give it a try.
I came across this wonderful article this morning and decided to share it in it's entirety. The link to the original site is attached so that full credit goes to the writer.
May all of you that suffer from gout find releif in this natural cure or at least gain some comfort and releif.
Any type of autoimmune disease that is progressive and
cannot be reversed, can cause pain and discomfort which have to be controlled
or at least brought into balance by a healthy lifestyle including diet and
exercise.
In this article we will elaborate the causes and symptoms of
gout and will share with you a recipe of a powerful drink which will help you
ease and relieve the pain, while reducing the symptoms.
Gout is in fact a type of arthritis, causing burning pain,
swelling, and stiffness, in a joint, usually a big toe.
Gout has to be treated because these discomfort issues will
happen. If high levels of uric acid in the blood are not treated, they will
most likely from hard crystals on the joints.
The causes and chances of getting gout are doubled in those
cases where the obesity risk factor is higher and also in people who drink
alcohol.
The breaking down of waste material would be way harder for
people who are overweight and also for those who have kidney problems. Those
are the ones that most likely will suffer uric acid attacks.
Most common symptoms that people with gout will get are: nighttime
swelling, tenderness, redness and sharp pain in their big toe.
They also get attacks in their foot, ankle, knees and other
joints. These attacks can be prolonged and last for a few days and even weeks.
According to a doctor, the only way to relieve pain is by taking
anti-inflammatory prescription pills, such as: ibuprofen or corticosteroids.
You will feel an ease in the pain, however, the symptoms
will still stay the same, not getting any better. That link between medicine
and easing of pain will make you be on pills any time you feel pain, and who
wants to go through that process of feeling immense pain without taking
something to relieve it, right?
Therefore, for all those who are in a status quo situation
and think that do not have any other alternative that taking pills, we are
about to change the perspective a little bit.
There is a direct link between your diet and your health.
For that reason, the active ingredients that this drink is made of, will reduce
pain and inflammation, naturally, and also diminish the symptoms that you
suffer from. Every single ingredient adds upon the healing process, fighting
the causes of gout.
INGREDIENTS:
- Pineapple
- Turmeric
- Ginger Root
- Tart Cherry Root
Why Pineapple?
We have chosen pineapple as one of the key ingredients of
this drink because it contains the enzyme Bromelain, which is one of the most
natural anti-inflammatory ingredients. Bromelain interferes with the hormones
that are responsible for the swelling, and reduces it.
Enzyme is also great for diets rich in protein and meat,
because it helps in digestion. Gout has especially been linked to diets that
are high in uric acid, so a proper digestion of the meat proteins that is
enabled by Bromelain is quite useful.
Why Turmeric?
Curcumin, an anti-inflammatory ingredient in turmeric, works
great for your overall health condition, relieving pain. Curcumic is
responsible for blocking the red blood vessels from enlarging and blocking the
excessive production of the protein.
Why Ginger Root?
The ginger root is composed of gingerols, which are active
ingredients, related to capsaicin. They are more or less similar to capsaicin
on a molecular level, which means that they lessen the enzymes which cause
inflammation in the body.
Why Tart Cherry Root?
Studies have shown that cherries lower the level of uric
acid in the blood, which means that you will stay away from risk and also
lessen the chances to get a gout attack.
To prepare the recipe that contains the above given
ingredients and will help with gout, you will need:
- 1-2 teaspoons of turmeric powder
- 1 cup of tart cherry juice
- Honey(optional)
- 1 pineapple
- 2-3 teaspoons of powdered ginger, or 1 inch off of a fresh ginger root
- Blender or food processor
- Strainer
- A glass container with a tight lid
Directions:
You should cut the stem, and the skin of the pineapple. You
can choose whether to use the stem or not, and chop the content into pieces.
You should have in mind that the stem has high concentration
of bromein, but it is up to you to choose.
Put all the ingredients, except for the honey, in a blender
and mix them until you get a homogenous texture.
Store it in the glass container and keep it refrigerated.
For those of you, who would like a sweeter taste just add honey, or lessen the
amount of ginger and turmeric, if you dislike their taste.
The drink will last for a month if you keep it in the
refrigerator, and should be drank on regular basis for prevention or in a large
amount in cases of gout attack, as a cure.
